Zrenjanin Bank Building Renovation Advances in Cultural Capital Project

Mayor Simo Salapura and deputy Nenad Domjeskov inspected the second phase of interior works at the historic Serbian Cooperative Bank building in Zrenjanin. The structure, a protected cultural monument originally rebuilt in 1920 and linked to early modern Serbian architect Dragiša Brašovan, is being adapted for exhibition and concert use as part of the “Zrenjanin – capital of Serbian culture 2025” initiative.

The city has invested nearly 70 million dinars in the building over the past four years, with total cultural‑heritage spending exceeding 350 million dinars from national, provincial and municipal sources. Phase 4 currently focuses on creating exhibition space on the right side of the palace, while upcoming work will address energy retrofitting and interior maintenance for the LOKUS LAB component of the project.
