Zürich Hauptbahnhof ranked best railway station in Europe

Zürich Hauptbahnhof has been named the best railway station in Europe according to the European Railway Station Index 2026, released by the Consumer Choice Center. The ranking evaluated 60 of the continent's busiest hubs based on criteria including punctuality, connectivity, accessibility, digital services, and available amenities.

Zürich HB secured the top position with a score of 110 points, driven by high precision and minimal wait times. The station manages approximately 3,000 daily services across 26 tracks and serves an average of 449,800 passengers daily as of 2025. Beyond transit, the station features the ShopVille-Zürich Hauptbahnhof complex, which houses over 190 shops, restaurants, and services.

Other top-ranking stations include Paris Gare du Nord in second place and Amsterdam Centraal in third. The report also noted significant improvements in Polish stations due to infrastructure investments, while German stations faced lower rankings due to chronic delays.
