Zürich underground garage fire causes significant property damage

A major fire broke out in an underground parking garage in District 12 of Zürich on Friday afternoon. Emergency services, including the Zürich City Police and Schutz & Rettung Zürich, responded to reports of thick black smoke shortly before 4:00 PM.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a section of the garage fully engulfed in flames. Rescuers utilized large mobile fans to clear smoke and applied water to cool the infrastructure due to sustained high temperatures. While approximately 30 to 40 vehicles were present in the garage at the time, no injuries were reported.

The fire caused significant property damage to several vehicles and the building's infrastructure, prompting the deployment of a structural engineer to assess the damage. The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently being investigated by fire investigators.
