Zsolt Bayer accused of NKA funding irregularities by Áron Molnár
Actor and activist Áron Molnár has released a series of videos alleging financial irregularities regarding state grants awarded to pro-government commentator Zsolt Bayer by the National Cultural Fund (NKA).
Molnár claims that Bayer’s former company, 1100 Év Kft., received a 3 million HUF grant in 2014 for a publication related to a series on Poland. The project was never completed, and while the NKA terminated the contract in 2015, the funds were not fully settled until Bayer repaid them in 2020. Molnár further alleges that Bayer received an additional 3 million HUF in 2020 through a non-publicly advertised application for an essay collection.
Zsolt Bayer responded via Magyar Nemzet, acknowledging the 2014 grant but explaining that the project failed due to translation issues. He stated he voluntarily repaid the full amount in 2020. Regarding the second grant, Bayer maintained that the resulting writings were completed, despite Molnár’s claims that the content deviated from the original proposal.
