ZTM reports shift toward long-term and electronic transit tickets

Data from the Zarząd Transportu Metropolitalnego (ZTM) for the first half of 2026 shows a shift in passenger purchasing habits. Total ticket sales value rose to approximately 149 million PLN, up from 145 million PLN during the same period in the previous year.

There is a notable trend toward long-term and electronic tickets. Sales of paper single-use tickets dropped by approximately 20%, and electronic 90-day tickets decreased by about 7%. Conversely, sales of 24-hour and 7-day tickets grew by roughly 12%, while Package and 180-day tickets saw an increase of about 20%.

The 30-day ticket remains the most popular long-term option, with over 316,000 purchases, representing a 9% increase. ZTM Director Michał Wadowski noted that passengers are increasingly opting for longer-duration tickets rather than multiple single-use ones, which he views as a sign of passenger loyalty and trust. He also attributed the growing interest in public transport to improvements in service quality, such as newer and better-equipped buses.
