Zubin Potok mass grave excavations reveal remains of at least 23 people
The Kosovo Government Commission for Missing Persons has reported the discovery and exhumation of remains belonging to at least 23 individuals at three mass grave sites in the Zubin Potok municipality. The sites are located in the villages of Kalludër and Jabukë.
According to the commission, 13 remains were found at a site in Kalludër named ‘Mëlleja’, six were found at a second Kalludër location, and four were recovered in Jabukë. The identification process is underway, with samples from the Jabukë site sent for DNA analysis.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the number of victims found aligns with the ‘group of intellectuals’ who were reportedly abducted and killed by Serbian forces in April 1999. Kurti has called upon international actors to address the issue of classified military documents held by Serbia, specifically noting that files regarding the 37th Motorized Brigade of the Yugoslav Army were classified in 2014 for a 30-year period, expiring in 2044.
