Zucchero criticizes Stefano De Martino's Sanremo appointment

During the Ligyes Alassio Genova Cultura Fest, singer Zucchero Fornaciari expressed skepticism regarding the appointment of Stefano De Martino as the artistic director for the 2027 Sanremo Music Festival. Commenting on the decision, Zucchero remarked, “Maybe he has some hidden qualities,” while suggesting that music industry veteran Stefano Senardi would be a more suitable choice due to his extensive professional experience.

Zucchero also voiced strong criticism of the Eurovision Song Contest, describing it as “plastic stuff.” He addressed the upcoming changes to the selection process, where the Sanremo winner will no longer automatically represent Italy at Eurovision, stating he has little interest in the specific mechanics of the decision.

In response to audience comments questioning De Martino’s musical knowledge, Zucchero noted that he does not know him as a “musical connoisseur” but declined to offer a definitive judgment on his abilities.
