ZUGFeRD and Factur-X e-invoicing formats delayed

The Forum elektronische Rechnung Deutschland (FeRD) and the French organization FNFE-MPE have announced a revised, two-stage release schedule for the new e-invoicing formats ZUGFeRD 2.5 and Factur-X 1.09. Originally slated for May 20, 2026, the rollout will now be split to ensure higher quality and practical usability.

The first stage is scheduled for June 10, 2026, and will primarily focus on mandatory code list updates and requirements relevant to the upcoming French B2B e-invoicing mandate. A second release, which will implement functionality for gross invoices, will follow at a later date to be announced by the FeRD.

The delay is attributed to additional requirements stemming from the upcoming revision of the European standard EN 16931, which necessitates more extensive testing and quality assurance processes.
