Zulia Legislative Council backs 520 MW electrical recovery plan

The Legislative Council of the State of Zulia (CLEZ) has rejected calls for violence attributed to opposition sectors, urging communities to avoid protests that could damage public infrastructure and essential services. The regional parliament emphasized the need to protect electrical transmission towers and public assets to maintain social peace.

Legislators expressed support for a recovery plan led by Corpoelec to stabilize the regional power supply. The plan aims to progressively incorporate 520 megawatts (MW) into the Zulia electrical system between October and November. This capacity is expected to reduce load management and improve stability for homes and businesses.

The scheduled energy additions include: - Termozulia 07: 150 MW - Termozulia 02: 130 MW - Termozulia 05: 150 MW - General Rafael Urdaneta Thermoelectric Complex: 90 MW through the rehabilitation of four turbines.

Currently, the TZ01 unit contributes 130 MW to the regional system. CLEZ President Magdely Valbuena Muñoz stated that the recovery of electrical services is a priority for the economic activity and daily life of the population.
