Zurich completes acquisition of Beazley to form largest specialty insurer

Zurich Insurance Group has completed its acquisition of Beazley Plc, a move valued at approximately £8.1 billion. The merger creates what Zurich describes as the world’s largest specialty insurance business, which will be headquartered in London.

Kristof Terryn, formerly a senior executive at Zurich, has been appointed CEO of both Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty, pending regulatory approval. He succeeds Adrian Cox, who is departing the company. Other leadership changes include Helen Pickford as CFO of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty, Sally Henderson as Chief People & Sustainability Officer, and Ed Bridge as General Counsel.

Zurich CEO Mario Greco stated that the integration is expected to drive significant financial gains. By 2029, the company anticipates incremental annual revenue growth exceeding $1 billion. Additionally, the merger is projected to deliver at least $150 million in annual cost savings and at least $1 billion in one-off capital synergies within the first two years.
