Zurich Film Festival Gala Premieres German auteur cinema Oscar contenders world premieres

The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) has announced several key titles for its Gala Premieres section, which runs from September 24 to October 4. The selection features a mix of Oscar contenders and major world premieres.

Two significant German productions, 'Alte Liebe' (Love, After All) by Andreas Dresen and 'Frau Winkler Verlässt Das Haus' (How Can I Help?) by Doris Dörrie, will make their world premieres at the festival. ZFF CEO Christian Jungen noted that these films are grounded in everyday life and reflect on society.

Other notable titles include 'I Play Rocky', a film exploring the creation of the Sylvester Stallone classic, and 'Josephine' starring Channing Tatum. From a Swiss perspective, the festival highlights '111 – Echoes From Halifax', a film examining the Swissair aircraft crash near Halifax.
