Zurich Film Festival awards Golden Eye to 'Flesh and Fuel' and 'Bucks Harbor

The 22nd Zurich Film Festival has awarded its top prizes, the Golden Eye, to 'Flesh and Fuel' for best film and 'Bucks Harbor' for best documentary. Both awards include a prize of 25,000 Swiss francs.

'Flesh and Fuel,' the feature debut of French director Pierre Le Gall, tells the story of a romance between a French truck driver and a Polish truck driver. The jury praised the film for its sensitive exploration of the human need for connection. The film stars Alexis Manenti and previously received recognition at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the documentary category, Pete Muller's 'Bucks Harbor' won for its portrayal of life in a fishing village in Downeast Maine, USA. The film examines themes of masculinity and the impact of nature on an underprivileged community. Both award categories at the festival are specifically reserved for directors working on their first, second, or third projects.
