Zurich Insurance completes Beazley acquisition and expands European partnerships
Zurich Insurance Group has completed its £8.1 billion ($10.7 billion) acquisition of Lloyd’s insurer Beazley. Following the deal, Beazley shares were suspended from the London Stock Exchange, with shareholders set to receive 1,310 pence per share. The acquisition includes significant leadership changes: Kristof Terryn has been named CEO of Beazley and Global Specialty, while former Beazley CEO Adrian Cox will depart the company.
In a separate strategic move, Zurich has entered into a ten-year co-insurance partnership with Santalucía. Under this agreement, Santalucía will distribute Zurich motor insurance products in Spain, while Zurich will provide life and pet insurance policies for Santalucía’s clients. Operational rollout for this partnership is expected by 2027.
Zurich is also expanding its niche market presence in Germany through a partnership with eichels GmbH, offering ticket insurance for leisure athletes during running and triathlon events. These initiatives reflect a broader corporate strategy to strengthen specialty insurance segments and diversify distribution channels across Europe.
