SIX Swiss Exchange posts mixed July results as ETFs surge but overall turnover falls

In July 2026 the SIX Swiss Exchange reported a total trading turnover of CHF 157.7 billion, a 14.5 % increase year‑on‑year. Exchange‑listed exchange‑traded funds (ETFs) were the standout segment, with ETF turnover rising 31.2 % and transaction volume up 81.7 % compared with July 2025. The market also saw strong activity on the Spanish BME exchange, where ETF turnover grew by almost five‑tenths.

Despite the ETF boom, the exchange’s overall trading volume slipped 10.4 % month‑on‑month to CHF 104.6 billion, marking the lowest level since June. ETF transaction counts fell 14.2 % and other product categories such as structured products, fixed income and equities also recorded fewer deals than the previous month. However, the number of individual trades rose 2.3 % year‑on‑year, driven mainly by equities, which posted a 3.9 % increase in transaction count.

Gregor Braun, Head of Cash Market Sales at SIX, highlighted the continued global investor interest in ETFs and noted that new products such as ETF QOD achieved record‑size trades, with the largest reaching USD 41.5 million.
