Zurich police reclassify Damir Kocan disappearance as violent crime

The Zurich Cantonal Police have reclassified the disappearance of Damir Kocan as a violent crime. Kocan has been missing since July 2023, after last being seen at the Neugasshof establishment in Zurich's District 5. His trail was last traced toward Olten on the A1 motorway.

In an effort to generate new leads, authorities have launched a public appeal through the program 'Vermisstmeldung' and 'Aktenzeichen XY', offering a reward of 10,000 Swiss francs for information. The shift in classification moves the investigation away from a voluntary disappearance toward a search for a specific sequence of events, potential witnesses, and criminal contacts.
