Zurich tasting panel evaluates eight Vermicelles varieties

A tasting panel in Zurich evaluated eight different varieties of Vermicelles, a traditional Swiss chestnut dessert, to determine the city's best version. The evaluation included supermarket products, local bakeries, and confectioneries.

The Vermicelleria pop-up, co-founded by David Jäggi, emerged as the top contender with a score of 9/10. Other notable entries included Bäckerei Conditorei Stocker, which earned 7/10 points for its shortcrust pastry and chocolate layer.

Supermarket and mass-market options received lower scores. Migros scored 3/10 due to a gummy consistency, while Confiserie Bachmann received 4/10, with experts noting the version was overly sweet and lacked a distinct chestnut identity.
