Zurich US appoints Alex Wells as new CEO

Zurich US has appointed Alex Wells as its new chief executive officer, succeeding Sierra Signorelli. The appointment, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, is effective immediately. Wells is a 25-year industry veteran who joined Zurich in 2020 following senior roles at Chubb and ACE.

Prior to this promotion, Wells led Zurich’s largest domestic unit—the Middle Market, Programs, Captives, and Direct Markets division—to double-digit growth over the last six years. During his tenure, he expanded the carrier’s underwriting footprint and advanced digital risk engineering tools.

As part of the leadership transition, John Diaz has been named president of US Middle Market, Programs, Direct Markets, and Captives. Wells will be based at the company’s headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.
