Zurina Zamri’s Laksa and Cendol Venture Boosts Family Income in Perak
Zurina Zamri, a 51‑year‑old entrepreneur from Kampung Tanjung Gelugor in Bota Kanan, Perak, has turned home‑made laksa and cendol into her main source of family income. Since early 2024 she has taken weekly orders for weddings and other events, and government agencies have begun to support her stall. With the help of the Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Perak (MAIPK) Proper A programme, she received training, a freezer and a mixer, enabling her to expand into frozen products such as karipap, donuts and pekasam daging. Monthly earnings can reach up to RM 4,000, especially during festive seasons, and she promotes the business through social media.
The MAIPK initiative, part of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 vision championed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, aims to empower local entrepreneurs by providing skills and equipment, and Zurina’s success illustrates the programme’s impact on household livelihoods.
