ZUS to begin 14th pension payments in Poland this September

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has announced the schedule and amounts for the 14th pension payments in Poland for 2026. The full additional benefit will amount to 1,978.49 PLN gross, which is equivalent to the minimum pension. Payments are set to begin on September 1, 2026, with subsequent installments scheduled for September 6, 10, 15, 20, and 25. Individuals receiving pre-retirement benefits will receive their payments by October 1.

Beneficiaries do not need to submit any applications, as ZUS will process the payments automatically alongside regular pensions or annuities. The benefit is exempt from bailiff executions and does not count toward income for other means-tested benefits. However, health insurance contributions and income tax advances will be deducted from the gross amount.

A 'zloty for zloty' rule applies to those whose basic pension exceeds 2,900 PLN gross, reducing the additional amount accordingly. The minimum payout is 50 PLN gross, meaning those with pensions exceeding 4,828.49 PLN gross will not receive the supplement.

Separately, discussions regarding future pension trends indicate that the average pension in Poland may decrease relative to average earnings over the coming decades due to calculation formulas, though the system is expected to remain solvent.
