ZUS issues October deadline for student family pension certificates
Students receiving family pensions in Poland must submit updated certificates from their educational institutions to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) by the end of October to avoid losing benefits. This requirement applies to those who began studies in October or whose previous certificates have expired.
Family pensions for children of deceased parents are generally available until age 16, or up to age 25 if the individual is continuing their education. Students in their final year of study who turn 25 may receive benefits until the end of that academic year. However, if a certificate was only issued for a single academic year, a new application and certificate must be submitted to ensure continuous payment.
Failure to submit the necessary documentation by the end of October may result in the loss of the pension payment for that month, as benefits are paid starting from the month the application and certificate are received.
