ZUS provides new guidance and support for parents in Poland

The Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has released a comprehensive guide for parents and guardians to navigate social and health insurance benefits related to maternity and parenthood. The electronic guide covers insurance principles, sickness benefits, and specific relief for entrepreneurs, such as the ‘relief for start’ and ‘small ZUS+’ programs.

Additionally, the ‘Active Parent’ program, which launched in October 2024, has distributed over 0.5 billion PLN to families in the Lublin Voivodeship alone. The program offers three distinct types of support for children up to three years of age: ‘active in nursery’ (up to 1,500 PLN or 1,900 PLN for children with disabilities), ‘active parents at work’ (1,500 PLN or 1,900 PLN), and ‘active at home’ (500 PLN per month). Parents can switch between these benefits as their professional or childcare situations change.
