ZUS reminds parents of November 30 deadline for school allowance

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has reminded parents and guardians in Poland of the November 30 deadline to apply for the ‘Dobry Start’ program. This initiative provides a one-time payment of 300 PLN per school-aged child to assist with the purchase of textbooks, stationery, and other educational supplies.

The benefit is available for children up to 20 years of age, or up to 24 years of age for children with a certified disability. The program excludes students in preschool ‘zerówka’ classes and university students. Eligibility is not determined by family income or parental employment status.

Since July, ZUS has received approximately 2.9 million applications covering over 4.3 million students, having already distributed more than 1.1 billion PLN. Applications must be submitted electronically via platforms such as mZUS, PUE/eZUS, Emp@tia, or through electronic banking. Applications submitted in September, October, or November are typically processed within two months.
