ZUS simplifies benefit documentation in Poland
Starting October 24, 2026, the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) in Poland is implementing new regulations to simplify the process of applying for and receiving various benefits. The changes aim to reduce bureaucracy by consolidating multiple forms into single documents.
For caregiver benefits, the previous Z-15a and Z-15b forms will be replaced by a single Z-15 form. Applicants will now provide a statement regarding the availability of other caregivers in the household rather than answering specific questions about a second parent's employment or shift patterns.
Maternity benefits will also see consolidation, as the ZAM, ZUR, and ZAO forms will be merged into one single ZAM form. This new form will cover maternity, parental, and paternity leave. Additionally, when ZUS pays the maternity benefit directly, parents will no longer need to attach a birth certificate, as ZUS will retrieve the necessary data automatically.
Entrepreneurs and B2B contractors will no longer be required to submit the Z-3b certificate. The new regulations also include simplified procedures for soldiers on leave and other specific groups to streamline the documentation required for sickness and maternity benefits.
