ZUS warns against paid assistance for support benefits

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has issued an urgent warning regarding third-party entities offering paid assistance in applying for the support benefit. ZUS reports receiving signals that individuals and companies are approaching people with disabilities, sometimes visiting them in their homes or providing pre-prepared contracts and powers of attorney as a service package.

ZUS emphasizes that all formalities related to applying for the support benefit can be completed free of charge. Employees at ZUS branches are available to assist applicants with any clarifications. Additionally, individuals who cannot manage the process themselves may authorize a trusted person, such as a family member, to act on their behalf through the same free services.

Authorities advise against signing documents from unofficial sources and suggest contacting ZUS directly or the police if fraud is suspected.
