Regional updates: Fatalities in hiking and road accidents alongside infrastructure developments

Various regional developments and incidents have been reported across Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In the Malá Fatra mountains, a 46-year-old Slovak tourist died after collapsing on a hiking trail near Veľký Kriváň, despite rescue efforts by mountain rescuers and aerial medical teams.

In transportation news, a fatal collision involving two trucks and a passenger car occurred near the Branisko tunnel on the Czech D1 highway, resulting in the death of a 52-year-old driver and leaving her 18-year-old daughter in a coma. Meanwhile, in the Czech Republic, opponents of the D35 highway project are calling for the abandonment of the northern route through Český ráj in favor of a southern alternative to protect the landscape.
