Gospić waste scandal: MP demands probe into 580,000 euro financial flows

Zvonimir Troskot, a Member of Parliament from the Most party, has called on Finance Minister Tomislav Ćorić to investigate financial flows linked to the CE-ZA-R company in connection with a major waste scandal in Gospić and Benkovac. Troskot claims that nearly 580,000 euros in transactions occurred between March and May 2024, and that state institutions should be able to verify these flows with a single click.

The investigation involves the illegal disposal of approximately 37,000 tons of waste in Gospić. Discrepancies have emerged between Croatian and Slovenian records; for instance, in 2022, Slovenian data reported approximately 1,400 tons of waste transferred by Tipos Resurs, while Croatia recorded only 83 tons.

State Inspectorate (DIRH) data indicates significant regulatory issues, noting that 61.7 percent of all inspected cross-border waste shipments in Croatia were illegal. The scandal also touches upon the business circle of Petar Pripuz, as CE-ZA-R is linked to the C.I.O.S. Group. Authorities are looking into whether the investigation should expand to include all intermediaries, contractors, and institutions involved in the waste management chain.
