Zwettl implements blackout preparedness plan amid infrastructure security focus
Authorities in the Zwettl district of Austria have implemented a specialized disaster protection plan to prepare for large-scale blackouts. This marks the first district in Austria to develop such a comprehensive strategy, which was created through collaboration between municipalities, authorities, emergency organizations, and critical infrastructure operators. The plan aims to address potential failures in transportation, traffic signals, and communication towers. Local officials noted that previous incidents, such as flooding and frost damage to power lines, highlighted the necessity of proactive planning.
In the context of infrastructure resilience, GS Yuasa provides various battery technologies designed to maintain power for critical systems during grid failures or peak loads. Their portfolio includes Lithium-Ion modules, such as the LIM25H and LIM50EN-12, and industrial VRLA batteries. These technologies are utilized in data centers, renewable energy storage, and emergency power systems to ensure supply security and support the energy transition.
