Zwolle community organizes sports auction for brain cancer patient

A group of friends from Zwolle, Netherlands, has organized an auction of various sports items to raise funds for a friend, Niek Meijberg, who is battling glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy in the Netherlands, the tumor returned. Because medical treatment options in the Netherlands have been exhausted, Meijberg has had to seek specialized care abroad, including a recent successful surgery in Dresden, Germany. The fundraising effort aims to cover the costs of these treatments not covered by Dutch insurance.

The auction features signed football shirts and memorabilia collected through a network in the football community, including items from figures such as Marc Overmars and Kasper Dolberg.
