Zwolle hosts Open Monumentendag with new Hotel Florès among 60 venues

On 12 September, Zwolle opened more than sixty historic and cultural sites to the public for Open Monumentendag, allowing visitors to explore normally closed buildings such as Ten Oeverstraat 24, the former Philips boiler house, the Wresinski Theatre and the Jeruzalemkerk. The day featured guided tours on a heritage tram and a special children’s ticket, with live music, workshops and performances across the city.

Among the featured locations was the newly opened boutique Hotel Florès, which began welcoming guests on 4 September. Housed in a restored historic building on Bloemendalstraat, the hotel offers 28 uniquely decorated rooms across five categories, a “discolift” elevator, and a bar designed in partnership with Amsterdam lifestyle brand Anna + Nina. The hotel’s colourful interiors draw on the Dutch tulip motif and aim to become a new meeting place for locals and tourists alike.

Open Monumentendag provides free entry to all sites, encouraging both residents and visitors to discover Zwolle’s heritage while enjoying cultural activities ranging from choral performances to medieval combat workshops.
