1Password launch of launches AI agent security platform amid revenue growth

1Password, developed by AgileBits, the developer of 1Password, has introduced ‘1Password for Agents’, a security platform designed to facilitate secure logins for autonomous AI assistants. The system allows AI agents to perform tasks such as travel booking or shopping by using a unique digital key to request authentication. Upon a request, the user receives a notification on a trusted device to approve or deny access. Once authorized, 1Password injects credentials directly into the website’s login form, ensuring the AI agent never sees or stores the user’s actual passwords or one-time codes. Initial integrations include Meta’s Muse and SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot, with planned support for OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work, Anthropic’s Claude Duet, and others. While the feature is available at no additional cost to existing Individual and Family subscribers on 1Password.com, users on 1Password.eu and 1Password.ca hosted plans are currently excluded from the free upgrade. Following the platform launch, the Toronto-based firm reported reaching $500 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), up from approximately $400 million the previous year. This growth is attributed to the rise of artificial intelligence; while monthly active usage among human users increased by 200 percent, usage by autonomous agents surged by 500 percent over the past year.
