The 2026 CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores Femenina has commenced in Quito, Ecuador, running from October 15 to October 31. The tournament features 16 clubs from ten South American nations, including host representatives Dragonas Independiente del Valle and Guerreras Albas. In the group stages, defending champions Corinthians defeated Chile’s Colo-Colo 2-0, while Palmeiras secured a 1-0 win over Peru’s Universitario. The latter match was marked by a medical emergency involving Universitario player Milagros Rolón, who required oxygen due to breathing difficulties, potentially linked to the high altitude in Quito. Other notable results included a 1-1 draw between Libertad and Deportivo Cali, and a victory for Santa Fe over Colo Colo. Logistical issues involving visa approvals for Caracas caused CONMEBOL to postpone their scheduled debut against Santa Fe. In the quarterfinals, Independiente Santa Fe secured a place in the semifinals by defeating Palmeiras at the Banco Guayaquil Stadium. After Palmeiras took a 2-0 lead through goals from Brena Carolina and Raissa Bahia, Santa Fe mounted a late comeback with Mariana Zamorano scoring in the 69th minute and Juana Ortegón equalizing with a header in the 90th minute. Following a 2-2 draw in regulation, Santa Fe prevailed 3-2 in a penalty shootout. Olimpia of Paraguay also secured a semifinal berth by defeating Deportivo Cali 1-0. The match experienced a 30-minute delay caused by a storm, but Lujan Ortiz scored the winning goal in the 91st minute following a goalkeeper error by Cali’s Mary Sánchez. This victory marks the first time in Olimpia's history that the club has reached the semifinals of this tournament. Olimpia is set to face the winner of the match between Cruzeiro and Libertad.
