2026 European Darts Championship

Overview

The 2026 European Darts Championship in Dortmund began with a historic performance by Luke Woodhouse, who hit a 9-darter during his opening match to defeat Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-3. Woodhouse, who attributed his success to maintaining “emotional neutrality,” used a 141 checkout on double twelve to secure a 3-1 lead during that match. This marked the first 9-darter recorded at the championship in six years.

In the second round, Woodhouse continued his momentum by upsetting defending champion Gian van Veen with a 10-6 victory. Other notable developments included Gerwyn Price advancing to the final day with a 10-4 win over Cameron Menzies; despite an average near 100, Price cited technical difficulties with his darts sticking at unusual angles in the board. Stephen Bunting also secured his place in the next stage after defeating Kim Huybrechts 10-3. Additionally, top seed Ross Smith narrowly secured progression, while Damon Heta overcame a 5-3 deficit to defeat James Wade 6-5 after Wade missed four matchdarts.
