The 2026 Mediterranean Games football competition progressed from squad preparations to the conclusion of the group stage. In early August, the Turkish Football Federation announced its 23-player U20 roster for the tournament, coached by Uğur İnceman. The team was placed in Group A alongside Morocco, Tunisia, and North Macedonia. By late August, the group stage concluded with Tunisia U21 securing the top spot in Group A and advancing to the semifinals. Tunisia finished the group stage undefeated with seven points, following a 0-0 draw against North Macedonia and a 1-0 win against Morocco. In their final group match, Tunisia defeated Turkey 2-1, aided by an own goal from Turkish defender Taha Emre Ince. Both Morocco and Turkey finished the group stage with four points. Following their group stage success, Tunisia U21 advanced to the Mediterranean Games final after a 3-1 comeback victory against Italy U18 in Taranto. Although Italy took an early lead through a goal by Diego Perillo, Tunisia responded in the second half with goals from Alaeddine Derbali, Rayan Anane, and Walid Dhouib.
