Preparations for the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club near Chicago have progressed through leadership appointments and roster finalization. In August, Gary Woodland was named the fourth and final captain’s assistant for Team USA. Joining captain Brandt Snedeker and assistants Jim Furyk, Keegan Bradley, and Webb Simpson, Woodland was selected for his “perspective, passion and a team-first mentality.” By September, both captains finalized their respective squads for the event scheduled for ~~September 24-27.~~ late September. International Team captain Geoff Ogilvy announced six captain's picks, including rookies Nick Taylor, Nico Echavarria, and Ryo Hisatsune, alongside Corey Conners, Sungjae Im, and Christiaan Bezuidenhout. The team was noted to be impacted by the injury-related absence of Jason Day. The International roster also includes automatic qualifiers Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, Kim Si-woo, Tom Kim, Hideki Matsuyama, and Ryan Fox. USA captain Brandt Snedeker completed his 12-man roster with picks including Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman, and 21-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun. Koivun, a former Auburn University standout, recently secured his first professional victory at the 3M Open. His selection makes him the youngest U.S. player chosen for the event since Jordan Spieth in 2013. The American squad is further supported by automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, and Russell Henley. Regarding roster construction, Ogilvy noted that holding a PGA Tour card provides a competitive advantage due to player familiarity with the American circuit and locker room environments. Despite strong performances on the DP World Tour, players such as South Africa’s Casey Jarvis were not selected for the International squad. The biennial competition pits the United States against an International team composed of players from outside Europe. Historically, the U.S. has dominated the event, winning 13 of the 15 editions held to date.
