The 51st Toronto International Film Festival runs ~~10‑20~~ 10–20 September 2026 in downtown Toronto. It opens with the ~~world‑premiere~~ world premiere of Apple Original’s *Being Heumann* (directed by Siân Heder, starring Ruth Madeley as ~~disability‑rights~~ disability-rights activist Judy Heumann). Over two‑thirds of the documentaries are directed by women. A centerpiece is Alex Gibney’s nearly ~~four‑hour~~ four-hour film *Musk*, which probes Elon Musk’s influence; the festival will premiere it after a Venice screening, with a theatrical release set for 16 October and an HBO broadcast to follow.
