BYD expands global EV, hybrid and luxury lineup

Since July 2026, BYD has accelerated its global rollout of electric, plug-in-hybrid, and performance models. In Japan, the RACCO electric kei-car and mini-van have seen significant interest; despite initial internal hesitation due to intense domestic competition, the model secured over 1,000 orders within its first two weeks of release. ~~This has triggered competition from Suzuki, which will~~ Suzuki is set to compete directly with the launch of its ‘e SKY’ mini EV on November 16, targeting 1,000 monthly units.
