2026 WTA Finals in Indian Wells

The 2026 WTA Finals are scheduled to take place in Indian Wells, California, from November 8 to 15. The tournament features the top eight singles players and eight doubles pairs of the season.

Early reports identified Elena Rybakina as the favorite following a consistent season, with Aryna Sabalenka noted as a primary challenger. It was also confirmed that Iga Swiatek would be absent from the event for the first time since 2019 due to injury.

As the tournament approached, players including Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina participated in promotional content through an expanded partnership between the WTA and TikTok. Tournament groups were finalized, placing Rybakina, Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Linda Noskova in one group, while Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Elina Switolina, and Karolina Muchova were placed in the other. Rybakina entered the competition as the defending champion.

This edition marks the first time the tournament has returned to California since 2005. Unlike previous iterations, the event will be played outdoors. Due to desert temperature fluctuations, matches are scheduled to begin at midday to utilize warmer hours. Dairy company FAGE has joined as a new sponsor, a partnership intended to continue when the tournament moves to Charlotte through 2029. WTA President Valerie Camillo stated the goal is to transform the Finals into the “Super Bowl of women’s sports.”

Defending champion Elena Rybakina seeks to join Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters as the only players to win the Finals on both indoor and outdoor courts.
