The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo officially opened on September 5 in Yeosu, South Korea, under the theme ‘Islands, Connecting the Sea and the Future’. The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 5,000 guests and featured traditional performances, a musical titled ‘Sinjikki: The Last Mermaid’, and a lighting drone show depicting the 365 islands of Yeosu.
