Game Freak released its first non-Pokémon action-RPG, *Beast of Reincarnation* (previously *Project Bloom*), on 4 August 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass. Published by Fictions and built on Unreal Engine 5, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic 4026 Japan. The narrative follows Emma and her wolf companion, Koo, through a world ravaged by a corruption known as the Blight. Initial reception was mixed due to technical flaws, including camera control issues, interface difficulties, and performance bugs. Despite these criticisms, the game saw strong commercial performance; during the 32nd calendar week (3–9 August 2026), it secured the second and third positions on the PlayStation 5 sales charts, trailing only *Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced*. In response to feedback, Game Freak has issued several updates. Patch 1.0.7 addressed camera adjustments, text size, and combat parry windows, while changing default cutscene settings to ‘Performance’ mode. Patch 1.0.8 introduced camera distance settings, adjusted boss behavior, settings and added official support for Nvidia DLSS 4/4.5 and AMD FSR 4.0. On 13 August 2026, director Kota Furushima issued a public apology in an interview with 4Gamer, apology, stating, “I honestly feel there are still areas in the game that require our sincere attention. I am truly sorry that parts of the game did not provide an adequately enjoyable experience.” On 24 August 2026, the studio released version attention.” Subsequent updates focused on quality-of-life and technical refinements. Version 1.0.9 (referred to as 1.007 for console players), which (1.007 on consoles) introduced support for ultrawide monitors, frame generation technology, and a phased rollout of a cutscene skip feature. Other quality-of-life improvements included faster recovery injection usage support and making charms available for purchase. On 31 August 2026, Game Freak released frame generation. Patch 1.008 (version 1.0.10). This update 1.0.10), released 31 August 2026, added visual toggles for film grain, grain and chromatic aberration, introduced ‘Tainted Seeds’ and post-processing during cutscenes. ‘Destruction Amber’ mechanics, and addressed progression bugs. On 8 September 2026, patch v1.0.11 was released, adding more cutscene skip options, skill tree resets, and improved upscaling. Game Freak has indicated future plans for a difficulty mode beyond ‘HARD’ and automated item collection.
