July’s community‑driven programme continued to expand in August, with festivals spanning music, film, folklore and gastronomy across Romania. The 31st Sighișoara Medieval Festival again turned the UNESCO‑listed citadel into a medieval tableau, drawing tens of thousands of visitors and showcasing the “Domnițele Sigiliului XXXI” dance project. In the east, Vrancea County Council hosted a free outdoor classical concert by the Metropolitan Orchestra of Bucharest (15 August) featuring conductor Daniel Jinga and soprano Oana Șerban. Sibiu’s International Folklore Festival “Cântecele Munților” ran from 7–10 August, featuring folk ensembles from Romania and abroad. The Summer Well festival at Știrbey (7–9 August) presented international acts including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, while the Haferland Festival visited ten Transylvanian Saxon villages (6–9 August) with a children’s treasure hunt in Roadeș and concerts in Saschiz. Film events included the Caravana filmului românesc in Slatina (7–9 August), the 23rd ANONIMUL International Independent Film Festival in Sfântu Gheorghe (10–16 August), and the Buzău International Arts Festival (14 August–11 September) featuring actor George Mihăiță. New cultural highlights included the inaugural Buzău Wine Fest (28–30 August), the 13th Dorel Codoban viola competition in Roșia (16 August), and HitFest Bucovina in Suceava (7–9 August). Additional programmes included a guided cultural tour in Constanța (11 August), La Băncuţe concerts by Filarmonica Arad (7–8 August), and family‑focused events such as the Family Farm Fest in Voinești (5 September). In the Banat region, the commune of Șag scheduled the Cultural Days of Șag and the traditional Ruga Bănățeană for 15–16 August. Organized by local authorities and the Romanian Orthodox Parish, the event at the Șag Cultural Center features folklore and popular music from performers such as Vlăduța Lupău, Lena Miclăuș with the Frații Marișca band, Florin Boita, Sebastian Cucec, Claudia Ionaș, and Petrică Miulescu Irimică.
