Geopolitical conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have increased diesel prices, impacting agricultural machinery and transportation, while tensions near the Strait of Hormuz have affected fertilizer supplies. Commodity prices for corn and wheat have reached three-year highs due to climate-related crop yield issues. Specific price surges include instant coffee up 15.8% year-on-year, beef roasts up 13.5%, tomatoes up 12.8%, and apples up 11.1%. J.P. Morgan has warned that global food inflation could reach 5% in the first half of 2027. In early September, the financial strain has become a prominent social media topic.
