On 11 July 2026 a woman was detained in Esquel, Chubut after being accused of killing her partner; details were not provided. On 30 July 2026 health worker Gemma Álvarez was murdered while riding her motorcycle on the Costanera avenue in Chimbas, San Juan Province. An autopsy confirmed she died from 31 stab wounds inflicted with a knife. She had filed a gender‑based restraining order against her former partner, Matías Exequiel Marín, ~~after repeated threats.
