In the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, ~~a new character named~~ Idris Nazir intends to purchase Alya Nazir’s share of the restaurant Speed Daal to run it with his girlfriend, Leanne Battersby. To finance the £50,000 buyout required for the business, Idris organizes a rigged private poker night at the restaurant. He manipulates Ollie Driscoll and Lauren Bolton to assist with the scheme, offering Ollie a portion of the winnings to ensure his participation despite warnings regarding the consequences of cheating. The deception is eventually exposed when Brody Michaelis informs Leanne of the rigged game. As a result of this betrayal, Leanne ousts Idris from her business. Despite the fallout, actor Junade Khan has noted that while Leanne may eventually forgive Idris due to their connection, the character remains primarily driven by financial gain and future projects.
