Various media and cultural organizations have announced programming to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Disney has announced a multiplatform initiative involving ABC News, National Geographic, Disney+, and Hulu. This includes a live national broadcast titled ‘9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan,’ hosted by David Muir, Robin Roberts, and Diane Sawyer, which will culminate in the illumination of the ‘Tribute in Light’ art installation in New York City. National Geographic will also premiere a three-part docuseries, ‘9/11 Reunited,’ produced in collaboration with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The program is scheduled to broadcast on ABC on September 1, 2026, with streaming on Disney+ and Hulu starting September 2, followed by an encore presentation on September 11. Produced alongside Constance Schwartz-Morini, the special explores how the arts, music, and sports helped the United States heal. Strahan, a former New York Giants player, shared personal memories of witnessing the attacks from New Jersey and his involvement in league-wide disaster relief efforts. The ~~program~~ special features reflections on how industries, such as the New York Yankees' participation in the World Series, provided national unity and consolation. In the documentary, Strahan recounted the fear felt by the New York Giants team as their plane crossed paths with United Airlines Flight 93. He also revealed that he had carried a young boy on his shoulders in East Rutherford, New Jersey, shortly after the attacks, only to discover 17 years later that the child was comedian Pete Davidson. In Orlando, the theater company Orlando Shakes will present the musical ‘Come From Away’ from August 26 to September 27. ~~The production includes a special performance on September 11 to raise funds for the Orlando Fire Department and the Orlando Fire Museum.~~
