Various media and cultural organizations have announced programming to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Disney has announced a multiplatform initiative involving ABC News, National Geographic, Disney+, and Hulu. This includes a live national broadcast titled ‘9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan’ Manhattan,’ hosted by David Muir, Robin Roberts, and a Diane Sawyer, which will culminate in the illumination of the ‘Tribute in Light’ art installation in New York City. National Geographic will also premiere a three-part docuseries, ‘9/11 Reunited’, Reunited,’ produced in collaboration with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. ABC News Studios will air a two-hour special, ‘9/11: United We Stand – 25 Years Later’, Later,’ hosted and executive produced by Michael Strahan. The program is scheduled to broadcast on ABC on September 1, 2026, with streaming on Disney+ and Hulu starting September 2, followed by an encore presentation on September 11. During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ Strahan noted the project serves as a tribute to victims, families, and first responders, mentioning a connection to comedian Pete Davidson, whose father was a New York City firefighter who died during the attacks. In Orlando, the theater company Orlando Shakes will present the musical ‘Come From Away’, featuring Away’ from August 26 to September 27. The production includes a special performance on September 11 to raise funds for the Orlando Fire Department and the Orlando Fire Museum.
