The inaugural season of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), an ICC-sanctioned competition, has commenced. Prior to the tournament, the Rotterdam Dockers held a jersey unveiling event in Mumbai featuring co-owners John Abraham and Jonty Rhodes. The Dockers squad, captained by Faf du Plessis, includes international players such as Heinrich Klaasen and Anrich Nortje. The league officially launched with a Dutch derby between the Rotterdam Dockers and the Amsterdam Flames in Voorburg. Co-owner Abhishek Bachchan noted the tournament follows three years of development. The competition features franchises from four countries, including the Edinburgh Castle Rockers and Glasgow Cosmic, with rosters containing international talent such as Shadab Khan and Trent Boult. In the second match of the season at Sportpark Westvliet, the Belfast Wolves secured a 52-run victory over the Dublin Guardians. After falling to 48 for three, the Wolves reached 184/7, supported by an 84-run partnership between Mark Chapman (54) and captain Glenn Maxwell (60). The Wolves' bowling then restricted the Guardians to 132/9. Following the match, Glenn Maxwell received an official reprimand for a Level 1 code of conduct offence involving the use of “audible obscenity”. The matter was resolved through an agreed sanction without a formal hearing, and Maxwell remains available for future fixtures.
