Developments in Dutch football continue across professional and amateur levels. In the Eredivisie, SC Heerenveen recently ended a five-match winless streak with a dominant 4-0 away victory against Sparta Rotterdam, featuring goals from Nolhan Courtens, Jacob Trenskow, Maxence Rivera, and Marko Farji. Ajax recently played to a 2-2 draw against Excelsior at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Although Julian Brandt opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, Excelsior responded with goals from Lennard Hartjes in first-half stoppage time and Aymen Sliti in the 62nd minute to take a 2-1 lead. Substitute Tolu Arokodare, who entered the match in the 62nd minute for Kasper Dolberg, secured the draw for Ajax in the 64th minute, scoring just two minutes after entering; Arokodare has now recorded six goals in all competitions this season. The match was marked by an early injury to Brazilian left-back Caio Henrique and controversial officiating regarding a penalty claim. In the eighth round of the Eredivisie, Ajax played to a 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen at the Johan Cruyff Arena. Tolu Arokodare gave Ajax an early lead in the 7th minute with a header following a cross from Jordi Mokio. However, NEC equalized in the 19th minute when Tjaron Chery converted a penalty awarded after a foul by Mokio on Noah Le Breton. Despite Ajax applying heavy pressure in the second half and a disallowed NEC goal due to offside, the match ended in a stalemate. Ajax currently sits fifth in the league with 15 points, while NEC occupies 11th place with 9 points. AZ Alkmaar recorded their first points loss of the season following a 1-1 draw against Willem II. Ajax has since secured a 4-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen.
