The 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days is scheduled for September 18–20, 2026, focusing on the themes of ‘photography heritage’ and ‘heritage in peril: revive, resist, reimagine.’ Planned activities include guided tours of the Polynesian Collection in French Polynesia to promote the preservation of cultural memory, and access to a 17th-century vaulted cellar at the Citadelle de Besançon in France. Additionally, the Abbaye du Thoronet will host a market for monastic artisanal products. In Switzerland, regional sites in Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds will offer specialist-led tours, alongside a 100-million-franc plan to renovate eight major buildings by 2040. The Abbaye du Thoronet will host a market for monastic artisanal products. In France, additional programming includes the Ministry of Justice hosting visitors at the Hôtel de Bourvallais in Paris, which will feature a ‘Village of Trades’ dedicated to prison administration. Other French sites participating include the Atelier-Musée de l’Imprimerie, Château Clément in Vals-les-Bains, and various locations across the Seine Normandie Agglomération and the Pyrénées region.
