Following the death of country music legend Dolly Parton on August 25, 2026, legal and personal disputes have emerged regarding her estate. She’s Alive, LLC, the entity managing Parton’s business empire and led by manager Danny Nozell, obtained a temporary restraining order against Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, and his security firm, Squadron Augmented Protection Services. Seaver, who served as Parton’s head of security for over 20 years, was dismissed from his role on September 16. Court filings allege Seaver engaged in an ‘obscene, deliberate and escalating campaign of threats’ to extort money and damage Parton’s business interests, including Dollywood. The filings claim Seaver used his military background and access to weapons to intimidate staff and lawyers, including messages where he allegedly claimed to be an ‘international arms dealer and mercenary’ and a ‘killer.’ A Tennessee judge granted the restraining order on September 23, prohibiting Seaver and his firm from entering any She’s Alive property or coming within 1,000 feet of the estate’s employees, attorneys, and business partners. Chancellor I’Ashea L. Myles cited concerns regarding Seaver’s alleged access to weapons and his stated intention to retaliate. Seaver has denied the allegations, stating his communications were ‘taken out of context during a period of grief’ and asserting, ‘I’ve never threatened anyone.’ He has also pointed to ‘unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions’ following the singer's passing. On October 2, Seaver, who is currently representing himself, filed a motion requesting a delay of approximately 10 days to the hearing originally set for October 9 to allow time to secure legal counsel. By October 5, the estate further alleged that Seaver has attempted to evade legal service by using barbed wire and ‘no trespassing’ signs at his residence. Seaver has characterized the restraining order as ‘spurious.’
