Vocational training and entrepreneurship initiatives have seen expansion and formal program completions in Algeria and Cameroon. In Oran, Algeria, registration for the October 2026 vocational training session reached 13,918 individuals via the TAKWIN platform. To address market needs, new specialties including cybersecurity, integrated electronics, and automotive charging maintenance were introduced. Meanwhile, in Ebolowa, Cameroon, the Ministry of SMEs, Social Economy and Handicrafts emphasized youth entrepreneurship during a graduation ceremony for the 5th CFP-MAITE cohort, highlighting the role of business incubation in economic growth. In Algeria, a six-month entrepreneurship and innovation program organized by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education and the INJAZ Algeria foundation concluded. The initiative involved 358 trainees from 20 institutes. The program culminated in awards for categories such as ‘Best Company’, ‘Best Innovation’, ‘Best Product’, and ‘Best Social Impact’, aiming to help youth transition from ideas to viable economic projects. Expanding on these efforts, Algeria’s Ministry of Vocational Training and Education reported that 484,000 students enrolled for the October 2026 session. Minister Nassima Arhab stated that the curriculum has been updated to align with national and local market needs through a new national competency framework. To address emerging industries, 23 new specialties have been introduced, focusing on sectors such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and renewable energy. Furthermore, 19 training centers have been converted into centers of excellence through partnerships with economic operators. The ministry is also coordinating with other sectors to prepare a workforce for state infrastructure, public works, and agricultural projects, while allocating a significant portion of scholarships to partner African and Arab nations. More recently, Minister Nassima Arhab inaugurated a mechatronics excellence center in Oran and launched the first phase of an ISO 21001 international standard implementation project to modernize management and quality culture within training institutions.
