Parma Calcio 1913 has appointed Alberto Gilardino as its new head coach following the departure of Carlos Cuesta. The club and Cuesta reached a mutual agreement to end their relationship due to a “lack of necessary conditions to continue the current sporting project” after the team secured only four points in five Serie A matches. Gilardino, a former player for the club who scored 56 goals between 2002 and 2005, signed a contract through the end of the 2026/27 season. The agreement includes a unilateral option for the club to extend the contract for an additional two years. To join Parma, Gilardino reached a mutual termination of his contract with Pisa. His appointment, supported by President Kyle J. Krause and CEO Federico Cherubini, aims to provide technical stability. Gilardino inherits a team currently in 15th place in Serie A, with his managerial debut expected to be a challenging away fixture against Inter Milan. Milan on October 10. His technical staff will include Gaetano Caridi, Francesco Valiani, Antonio Bovenzi, and Mirco Vecchi.
